Soldiers and distaff of the British Brigade and Continental Line will return to the celebrated grounds of Daniel Boone Homestead for two exceptional days of reenacting on the weekend of May 17-18, 2008. The historic 579-acre site is the location the famed pioneer's 1734 birth and early childhood years. The terrain is superb for tactical demonstrations, with woods, trails, wide open fields, a house, barn, bridge, causeway and various outbuildings making it one of the most interesting sites ever to host the forces of Congress and King. This is the third time these national living history organizations will meet here and it promises to be the most memorable of all.
Daniel Boone Homestead is located in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, a short distance from Pottstown and Reading, and just a half mile off Rt. 422 and within easy reach of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Sponsored once again by the 43rd Regiment of Foot and First Continental Regiment, the two previous events there (1995 and 1999) saw record participant turnouts.
A major battle is scheduled each day with a lively unscripted skirmish on Sunday morning. The Sunday battle will end in time to allow everyone to leave by 3 p.m. Participants may arrive beginning 11 a.m. Friday and remain until 4 p.m. Monday.
